Laurence Donoghue: Laurence is a UK based photographer often drawn to the sea. Shooting on celluloid film, his photographs try to grab onto ephemeral, fleeting moments and reflect the bittersweetness of trying to hold onto something that cannot stay.

Story Behind the Image: A fishing vessel coming back from a refitting catches fire off the coast of Cornwall. I caught this during a matinee performance at The Minack Theatre, where I was working at the time. The performance was stopped, in part because some of the fishing crew were relations of the theatre staff. The Coast Guard attended and all got off safe. A surreal moment of real life upstaging drama. This image was captured on high ISO film, with the pronounced grain adding to its atmosphere and lending it a soft, dreamlike quality.

Paper: This piece is printed on Hahnemuhle Photo Rag, a premium, heavyweight (308gsm), bright white, 100% cotton rag paper with a smooth matte finish. This is an archival print designed to last 100+ years.

Editions: This work is released as a strictly limited edition of 390 prints across all sizes: Small (200), Medium (100), Large (50), Giant (25), Collector (10), and Gallery (5). Each print is accompanied by a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity.

Limited Editions & Collectibility

All works in the gallery are offered as strictly limited editions. Each image is released in a total edition of 390 prints across all sizes, clearly defined at the time of release and never expanded. Editions are allocated by size—Small (200), Medium (100), Large (50), Giant (25), Collector (10), and Gallery (5). Every print is accompanied by a signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity, and once the full edition is sold out, the work will never be reprinted in any size. This approach preserves artistic integrity, ensures genuine scarcity, and protects the long-term value of each work—allowing collectors to acquire fine art photography with confidence and clarity.
